Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq meets Iran's Deputy Speaker to advance Pakistan Iran ties and parliamentary cooperation for regional stability in Islamabad.

On 12 November 2025 at the Parliament House in Islamabad, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq received Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Mr Ali Nikzad, and his parliamentary delegation to discuss Pakistan Iran ties and expanded cooperation across multiple sectors.

Both sides held detailed talks on parliamentary cooperation, economic partnership and practical steps to deepen Pakistan Iran ties. The Speaker highlighted the need to strengthen collaboration to ensure regional stability and shared prosperity, noting the deep-rooted bonds of history, religion and culture that connect the two neighbouring countries.

Speaker Sadiq described the recent visit of Dr Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, as a milestone that has promoted parliamentary engagement between Islamabad and Tehran. He underlined the importance of people-to-people contacts and parliamentary exchanges to build mutual understanding and stronger friendship between the two nations.

The Speaker reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing advocacy for peace and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, and expressed concern about the misuse of Afghan soil for terrorist activities affecting Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and, in reference to recent hostilities, said Pakistan defended its sovereignty by shooting down seven Rafale fighter jets, a point he presented as evidence of the armed forces’ professionalism.

Recalling the Parliament of Pakistan’s unified resolution condemning Israel’s aggression against Iran, Speaker Sadiq said Iran and Pakistan face common challenges and adversaries and congratulated Iran on its response to the aggression. He also extended best wishes to Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad for the successful implementation of Iran’s upcoming five-year development plan.

Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad conveyed condolences for the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad and paid tribute to the victims, while acknowledging Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran during critical moments such as the twelve-day war. He emphasised the potential to expand cooperation in trade, energy, education and parliamentary capacity building, and both delegations agreed to pursue concrete measures to advance Pakistan Iran ties further.
