The Government has issued a new ordinance aimed at promoting barter trade between Pakistan and Iran, designed to broaden and diversify the bilateral commercial base. After exhaustive deliberations, many concerns of the business communities in both countries were taken into account and addressed in the drafting of the ordinance to make barter trade more practical and secure for traders on both sides.
Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, urged industry and business leaders in both countries to take full benefit of the ordinance and to actively use the new provisions to expand bilateral trade. He highlighted that the measure is intended to remove practical hurdles and create fresh opportunities for Pakistani and Iranian exporters and importers to engage in barter trade arrangements.
The ambassador also called on Pak-Iran chambers and trade bodies to circulate the ordinance among their members so businesses can quickly understand the new mechanisms and capture mutually beneficial trade dividends. The emphasis is on practical rollout and collaboration so that the benefits of the ordinance reach exporters, importers and sectoral stakeholders across both markets.
With targeted implementation and engagement from the private sector, officials involved in the policy process hope the ordinance will substantially elevate Pakistan Iran trade and help diversify trade ties beyond traditional channels by fostering reliable barter trade links.
