Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held a meeting with Lao People’s Democratic Republic’s Foreign Minister, H.E. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur. Both sides discussed bilateral relations and agreed to deepen cooperation in multiple areas, including trade and investment, education, tourism, and people-to-people connections.
During their meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Dar and Minister Phomvihane reviewed the progress of ongoing engagements between the two nations. They emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and collaboration.
Moreover, both ministers showed keen interest in expanding cooperation in trade and investment. Recognizing the potential for closer economic ties, the leaders highlighted the importance of enhancing mutual business activities to benefit both countries.
Educational exchange was also identified as a critical area for collaboration. Both sides emphasized their commitment to promoting educational opportunities and fostering academic exchanges, believing this would contribute positively to closer bilateral ties.
The two ministers further agreed to encourage cooperation in tourism, recognizing its potential to enhance mutual understanding and boost economic prospects. They highlighted the significance of increased tourism flow as a means of deepening the friendship and goodwill between their respective populations.
Finally, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating continued people-to-people exchanges. Strengthening such exchanges, they noted, would promote deeper cultural understanding and help further solidify friendly ties between the peoples of Pakistan and Laos.
