The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has launched a nationwide polio campaign aimed at reaching more than 45 million children under the age of five, mobilising over 400,000 trained polio workers who will visit homes and health facilities across the country.
During the campaign, teams will administer oral polio drops and provide Vitamin A supplements to strengthen children’s immunity and improve protection against a range of preventable illnesses. The polio campaign will operate across all provinces and regions to ensure wide coverage.
In provincial breakdowns announced by the NEOC, Punjab will receive the largest share with more than 23 million children to be vaccinated, Sindh will cover over 10.6 million children, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aims to reach about 7.2 million, and Balochistan around 2.6 million. Islamabad is set to vaccinate about 460,000 children, Azad Jammu and Kashmir roughly 760,000, while teams in Gilgit-Baltistan will reach nearly 280,000 children.
The NEOC has urged parents to ensure every child under five receives the life-saving polio drops during the campaign period, stressing that consistent participation in vaccination efforts is essential to keeping Pakistan polio-free. Families are also asked to accept Vitamin A supplementation offered during visits.
Health officials emphasised the importance of completing the full immunisation schedule so children receive protection against all vaccine-preventable illnesses. The success of the polio campaign will depend on cooperation between health teams and communities to reach every eligible child.
