Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to all religious and linguistic minorities across Pakistan in a special message marking the International Day for Minorities. He expressed his best wishes for their prosperity and development, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to upholding their rights.

Gillani highlighted that Pakistan’s constitution and laws guarantee equal rights for all citizens without discrimination. He noted that effective legislation has been enacted at the national level to protect and promote the rights of minorities, ensuring their practical implementation in society.

The Chairman stressed the significant and commendable role minorities play in the development, stability, and harmony of the country. He pointed out that minorities have consistently made notable contributions in various fields of life, and that women from minority communities have been given substantive representation in parliament, reflecting the nation’s democratic values and inclusive governance.

Gillani further stated that the constitution not only protects the fundamental rights of minorities but also provides clear guidance to state institutions for effective implementation. He mentioned that the Senate of Pakistan has introduced numerous laws and measures aimed at safeguarding the interests, welfare, and equal opportunities for minorities.

Concluding his message, Gillani reiterated that interfaith tolerance, mutual respect, and national unity are essential pillars for building a strong and peaceful Pakistan. He assured that the upper house of parliament will continue to make every possible effort to protect minority rights and address their legitimate concerns.
