The Pakistan–Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group has pledged to strengthen ties and broaden cooperation between the two countries in areas including trade, education, health, and agriculture. At a meeting in Islamabad, leaders from both sides committed to promote deeper diplomatic, economic, and parliamentary collaboration, aiming to lay the groundwork for a long-term partnership.
The gathering, held at Parliament House under the convenorship of Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan, was attended by Morocco’s Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune, senior officials, and several members of the Pakistani Senate. Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan highlighted the value of close parliamentary exchanges in fostering strong, multifaceted relations between Pakistan and Morocco. Senators and advisors welcomed the Moroccan delegation and stressed the mutual interest in expanding cooperation across critical sectors.
Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, emphasized the need for institutional collaboration within bilateral frameworks. She identified trade, tourism, and cultural exchange as strategic areas where both countries could make significant progress.
Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune reiterated Morocco’s commitment to advancing relations. He called for efforts to increase imports from Pakistan to achieve balanced trade. The challenges faced by Moroccan nationals in obtaining Pakistani visas were also discussed, with the ambassador noting that Morocco has already offered e-visa facilities to Pakistani citizens and requesting a similar arrangement for Moroccan applicants. He further extended an invitation for high-level visits to further strengthen bilateral ties.
Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki welcomed the Moroccan delegation and emphasized the significance of the friendship group in enhancing bilateral cooperation. Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman pointed to shared opportunities in education, medical equipment, sports, tourism, and defence training, advocating for a formal agreement to encourage tourism between the two countries. Senator Umer Farooq recommended the provision of scholarships for Pakistani students on a province-wise basis and highlighted the importance of increased trade for economic growth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing stronger Pakistan–Morocco relations through sustained parliamentary diplomacy and practical cooperation. The participants agreed that regular dialogue and targeted initiatives will help foster deeper ties and greater connections between the peoples of both nations.
