**Pakistan Reaffirms Strong Ties and Expands Cooperation with Morocco**
The Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with Morocco, highlighting the rich historical, cultural, and religious ties between the two nations as well as outlining future areas of cooperation. Speaking at a reception hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Islamabad on the occasion of Morocco’s National Day, the Minister praised Morocco’s progress and called for expanded collaboration between the countries.
During his remarks, Minister Hussain extended warm greetings and congratulations on behalf of the Pakistani leadership and people to King Mohammed VI, the Government of Morocco, and the Moroccan nation. He described Morocco’s National Day as a celebration of the country’s proud heritage, resilience, and achievements in peace and development. He also commended Morocco’s notable gains in sustainable development, regional engagement, and good governance.
Highlighting the deep-rooted relationship between Pakistan and Morocco, the Minister noted that diplomatic ties established in 1958 have evolved into a robust partnership marked by mutual respect and shared values. He lauded Morocco for its consistent support of Pakistan’s positions on international platforms and reiterated Pakistan’s strong backing for Morocco’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.
Turning to economic opportunities, Mr. Hussain emphasized the untapped potential in bilateral trade, particularly in sectors such as textiles, agriculture, leather, pharmaceuticals, and information technology. He specifically mentioned Morocco’s leadership in phosphate production and fertilizer manufacturing, proposing further collaboration in agriculture and food security to enhance Pakistan’s agricultural productivity and resilience through agri-tech innovation.
The Minister also advocated for expanded academic and cultural engagement, suggesting student exchange schemes and joint research between higher education institutions of both countries. He praised Morocco’s initiatives in fostering interfaith harmony and cultural dialogue, aligning these efforts with Pakistan’s own vision of peace and coexistence. Furthermore, he acknowledged Morocco’s advancements in renewable energy and voiced the need for joint efforts in climate change adaptation and green technology.
