Pakistan Navy delegation visits Parliament House as Senate Secretary briefs the 55th Staff Course on Senate roles, strengthening institutional transparency.

A 114-member delegation of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course undertaking an inland study tour visited the Parliament House today. Senior officials from the Senate Secretariat warmly received the Pakistan Navy delegation upon arrival.

Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider briefed the delegation on the role, functions, structure and working procedures of the Senate. He emphasised that the Senate, as the Upper House of the bicameral Parliament, represents the federating units on the basis of equality and plays a vital role in promoting national harmony and safeguarding the interests of the smaller provinces.

While outlining the core functions of the Senate, the Secretary noted that the House performs a crucial role in legislation, oversight, accountability and representation, offering a forum where provincial concerns are balanced with national priorities.

The delegation took keen interest in the detailed briefing and actively engaged in a question and answer session, during which the Secretary responded comprehensively to queries from the Pakistan Navy officers. The visit concluded with the delegation expressing appreciation for the Senate Secretariat’s role in strengthening democratic governance and fostering institutional transparency in Pakistan.
