Pakistan Railway Fails to Comply with PIC Directive, Faces Notice for Noncompliance

Islamabad : The Pakistan Information Commission (PIC) sent a notice to the Secretary of the Railway, asking for an explanation for why information was not provided to a person.

Muhammad Owais, the individual who submitted the petition, lodged a complaint with the Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui and commission member Ejaz Hasan Awan, stating that the Rail Cop Company of Pakistan Railway did not provide him with the information that he requested.

During the most recent hearing, the Commission had previously asked the Pakistan Railway to provide pertinent information to the citizen; nevertheless, the railway did not comply with the directive that had been given by the Commission.

Pakistan Information Commission Disposes of 1300 Appeals

The Commission voiced worry over the absence of any officials from Pakistan Railways during the hearing, adding that Pakistan Railways is required to disclose this information in accordance with the legislation, but no officials from Pakistan Railways were present.

The Commission has given the Federal Secretary of Pakistan Railways notice that they need to attend in the upcoming hearing and supply the citizen with the information that is pertinent to the situation.

The citizen had submitted a request for information regarding the workers who had been employed by the Pakistan Railway Company Rail Cop throughout the course of the previous three years, as well as the profitability of the company, the use of track machines, and the specifics of any damaged machines.

The Rail Cop Company of Pakistan Railways has been given the instruction to ensure that it would be present at the upcoming hearing so that it may supply the citizen with information that is pertinent to the situation.
