The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has launched a 17 million Swiss franc emergency appeal to help the Pakistan Red Crescent Society scale up relief efforts for communities devastated by recent floods. The appeal aims to provide immediate support to families who have lost lives, homes and means of livelihood.

At a ceremony marking the appeal, Farid Abdulkadir, head of the IFRC delegation in Pakistan, described the floods as having caused severe destruction across affected areas. He said the disaster has resulted in loss of life, widespread displacement and the destruction of livelihoods, creating urgent humanitarian needs.

The 17 million Swiss franc Emergency Appeal is intended to bolster the Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s capacity to respond rapidly and at scale. Funds will enable expanded relief operations to reach more communities, reinforce logistics and field teams, and support prioritized interventions where needs are greatest.

The announcement underscores a coordinated effort between the IFRC and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to address immediate humanitarian needs and lay the groundwork for recovery. Officials emphasized the importance of sustained support from international partners and donors to ensure relief reaches the most vulnerable households affected by the floods.
