Pakistan Representative Strengthens TB Response

Dr Seema Saifuddin joined regional partners to shape TB Response and pandemic preparedness, guiding future policy and programming in the Asia-Pacific.

Dr Seema Saifuddin, Coordinator for drug-sensitive and drug-resistant TB and Focal Person for the Common Management Unit at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Pakistan, took part in the COPPER & CE SI meeting on Securing the Future of TB Response and Pandemic Preparedness and Response. Her participation brought Pakistan’s perspective into a wider regional discussion on sustaining and strengthening TB Response across the Asia-Pacific.

The meeting convened partners including ACHIEVE Inc., KHANA Cambodia, Jaringan Indonesia Positif (The Positive Indonesia Network), the Association of People Living With HIV-Pakistan, Trisuli Plus Community Action Group TPCAG and the Mongolian Anti-Tuberculosis Coalition to share experiences and align strategies. Delegates exchanged practical approaches to integrate TB control with broader pandemic preparedness and response efforts.

Dialogue focused on informing future programming and policy decisions to ensure a more sustainable and effective TB Response. Participants emphasised collaboration, evidence-based policy and community-led approaches as key pillars for resilience against both TB and future public health threats.

Insights from the meeting are expected to inform national and regional planning, helping Pakistan refine its TB Response and coordinate with civil society and international partners for improved outcomes in TB control and pandemic preparedness.
