Pakistan Saudi Strategic Defence Agreement Welcomed

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq hails Strategic Defence pact with Saudi Arabia as a proud milestone, pledging deeper parliamentary ties and regional cooperation.

Islamabad 7 October 2025 saw Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq receive Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh at the Parliament House for wide-ranging talks on bilateral relations and cooperation.

The leaders discussed parliamentary cooperation, the regional situation, unity of the Muslim Ummah and ways to expand economic partnership. Both sides agreed that closer parliamentary exchanges will help bring the peoples of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia closer and strengthen institutional links.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq underlined the historic bonds between the two countries, rooted in faith, brotherhood and mutual respect, and described the Pakistan Saudi Strategic Defence agreement as an honour and matter of pride for Pakistan. He said the Strategic Defence arrangement symbolizes mutual trust and a shared vision for regional peace and long-term partnership.

The Speaker extended sincere good wishes for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and the people of Saudi Arabia, while paying tribute to the Kingdom’s role in preserving cultural and spiritual heritage. He also praised Saudi Arabia’s constructive and humanitarian role in facilitating the Gaza ceasefire and welcomed the Kingdom’s consistent support for Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir at international forums.

Chairman Dr. Abdullah thanked the Speaker for the warm hospitality and reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan stand together across political and economic spheres. He emphasized that the Strategic Defence partnership is not aimed at any third country but intended to promote peace, stability and regional cooperation, and he stressed the need to deepen parliamentary exchanges between the Shura Council and Pakistan’s Parliament.

Recognizing contributions to strengthening bilateral parliamentary ties, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced that Dr. Abdullah will be conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award in appreciation of his services. Both leaders reiterated the importance of greater unity among Muslim countries and expanding economic cooperation to benefit their peoples.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and Members of the National Assembly Syed Hafizuddin, Zeib Jafar, Malik Aamir Dogar, Sehar Kamran, Mujahid Ali and Noor Alam Khan, who joined discussions aimed at consolidating the bilateral partnership.
