On World Food Day 2025 a cross-sector panel with WFP, FAO Pakistan, the Ministry of National Food Security & Research and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) met to discuss transforming Pakistan’s food systems. The discussion centred on ensuring that access, safety and affordability become the driving measures of progress across the country.

WFP Pakistan’s Deputy Country Director Lindita Bare said: “The challenge is no longer about producing enough food – it’s about ensuring everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food.”

Speakers emphasised that strengthening food systems in Pakistan requires shifting attention from production alone to the full chain of access, nutrition and affordability. The panel highlighted how coordinated action between international agencies and national authorities can help target support to vulnerable communities and improve outcomes for households across provinces.

The collaboration showcased on World Food Day underlines a shared commitment to building resilient food systems so that stronger food systems lead to stronger communities and a future where no one is left behind.
