Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif led a high-level delegation to Riyadh from October 27 to 29, 2025, participating in the Ninth Future Investment Initiative Forum where Pakistan sought to broaden its global partnerships and attract strategic investment across multiple sectors.
During the visit a Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Economic Cooperation Framework was launched to deepen collaboration in energy, mining, information technology, tourism, agriculture and food security, reflecting a joint push to translate diplomatic ties into tangible economic projects.
Both capitals agreed to convene the next session of the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council and explored new memoranda of understanding, including proposals for electricity interconnection and energy cooperation. In Riyadh the Prime Minister also met World Economic Forum President and CEO Børge Brende and accepted an invitation to attend the 2026 WEF annual meeting in Davos, furthering Pakistan’s engagement with global economic platforms.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held talks with Saudi counterparts to reaffirm multifaceted cooperation and jointly address regional challenges. He inaugurated an upgraded Consular Hall and One-Window MRP Service at the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, a step aimed at improving consular services for overseas Pakistanis and strengthening people-to-people links within Pakistan’s broader strategy for global partnerships.
Dar continued active diplomacy through telephonic consultations with counterparts in Canada, Algeria and Türkiye. Talks with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand focused on enhanced collaboration in trade, agriculture and mining under the FIPPA arrangement and acknowledged Pakistan’s facilitation of market access for Canadian canola. Discussions with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf emphasized coordination in multilateral fora, while dialogue with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the evolving situation in Gaza and Pakistan’s participation in an upcoming Turkish-hosted ministerial meeting for peace efforts.
The second round of Pakistan–Afghan Taliban talks concluded in Istanbul on October 30 after four days of mediation. Pakistan reiterated that Afghan soil must not be used for terrorism against Pakistan and called for verifiable action against groups such as Fitna al-Khwarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan. Islamabad expressed appreciation for constructive mediation by Qatar and Türkiye and signalled hope for productive progress in the next round scheduled for November 6, 2025.
Responding to renewed violations of the Gaza Peace Agreement, Pakistan condemned the attacks as a flagrant breach of international law, urged an immediate cessation of hostilities and reiterated support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders.
In Islamabad the Third Session of the Pakistan–EU Migration and Mobility Dialogue was co-chaired by DG Europe Irfan Ahmed and EU Deputy DG Home Johannes Luchner. The session reviewed outcomes from the 16th Joint Readmission Committee and the 3rd Talent Partnership Roundtable, noted progress under the EURA Agreement and agreed to advance the Pakistan-EU Talent Partnership Roadmap for legal migration and labour mobility ahead of the next session in Brussels.
On October 27 Pakistan observed the 78th anniversary of Kashmir Black Day with seminars, exhibitions and solidarity events across the country and at diplomatic missions abroad. National leadership, including the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, reiterated Pakistan’s political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and urged international attention to human rights concerns in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir through letters to UN and OIC leadership.
Islamabad offered humanitarian assistance and condolences following a 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Türkiye on October 28 and conveyed deep sympathies on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand, honouring her humanitarian legacy. This week of intensive engagement underscores Pakistan’s commitment to advancing global partnerships, strengthening regional stability and promoting dialogue and cooperation across political, economic and humanitarian fronts.
