Pakistan Tajikistan strengthen ties at 6th Bilateral Political Consultations in Dushanbe, prioritising trade, security, connectivity and CASA-1000.

The 6th Session of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe on 29–30 September 2025, with the Pakistani delegation led by Additional Foreign Secretary (West Asia and Afghanistan) Syed Ali Asad Gillani and the Tajik side headed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Farrukh Sharifzoda. Discussions spanned a wide range of bilateral matters and reflected a positive trajectory in Pakistan Tajikistan relations driven by renewed high-level engagement.

Delegates reviewed political and parliamentary cooperation alongside trade and investment opportunities, with particular attention to expanding collaboration in textiles, logistics, agriculture and food, and pharmaceuticals. Both sides underscored the strategic importance of regional transport corridors and reaffirmed a shared commitment to the early operationalisation of CASA-1000 to enhance regional integration and energy security.

Defence and security cooperation was examined through the lens of counter-terrorism measures, practical training programmes and exchanges of visits aimed at strengthening capacity and coordination. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, stressing the importance of diplomacy and adherence to the UN Charter in resolving disputes.

The consultations were conducted in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, and both parties agreed to hold the 7th session of Bilateral Political Consultations in Islamabad in 2026. During the visit, the Additional Foreign Secretary held meetings with the First Deputy Minister of Transport, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and the Director of the Centre for Advanced Training of Diplomats, and visited the Panj Free Economic Zone and the Commercial Customs Facility at Panji Payon to assess trade and connectivity prospects firsthand.
