Pakistan-Turkey Defense Ties Strengthened in Islamabad

Turkish Defense Minister Yasser Güler met with Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad to reaffirm strong bilateral defense ties and discuss deepening cooperation across defense industry, training and joint military exercises. Both sides described the relationship as close and committed to further collaboration on regional security and counterterrorism.

During the meeting the two ministers stressed the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkey, characterizing their bond as two countries, one nation and a heart-to-heart relationship. They agreed on the importance of maintaining and enhancing defense cooperation at multiple levels.

Discussions focused on expanding defense industrial collaboration, increasing joint training programs, and institutionalizing regular combined military exercises. Both delegations emphasized practical steps to boost interoperability and shared capabilities.

Turkey’s defense minister praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their contribution to regional peace and stability. He highlighted the value of Pakistan’s military experience in strengthening collective security efforts.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif expressed appreciation for Turkey’s ongoing support for Pakistan and welcomed continued cooperation in areas including security, counterterrorism and regional collaboration. Both sides committed to sustaining high-level engagement to translate their strategic partnership into concrete, operational cooperation.
