Ministry and partners refine Pakistan Early Childhood Development guidelines to strengthen nurturing care, health and early learning for every child.

A concentration workshop on Early Childhood Development (ECD) guidelines convened experts and policymakers under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, with technical support from UNICEF, the World Health Organization Pakistan and Aga Khan University.

Participants worked to refine Pakistan’s ECD Operational Guidelines, ensuring the guidance is evidence based and prioritises nurturing care, child health and early learning. The revisions aim to align operational detail with current research so services reach children across diverse settings.

The workshop brought together subject matter specialists to review practical approaches and strengthen the link between policy and frontline practice. Emphasis remained on creating implementable guidance that supports caregivers, health workers and educators to deliver high-quality early childhood interventions.

Officials and partners described the effort as an important step toward ensuring every child in Pakistan receives the best possible start in life, with Early Childhood Development placed at the centre of planning, resource allocation and service delivery.
