Pakistan Works Department (PWD) Renovates Over 2,000 Houses and Flats in Islamabad

Over the past five years, Pakistan Works Department (PWD), Ministry of Housing and Works, has upgraded and renovated 2,093 houses and flats in various sectors of Islamabad. Among them, 1,114 flats and houses received electrical and mechanical (EM) works, while around 979 of different categories received civil works, according to a ministry official.

The ministry owns 5,253 houses and flats of categories-I to categories-V located in various sectors of the federal capital. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is responsible for maintaining and renovating the Pak Secretariat, Islamabad, and no fund has been spent on the ministry’s renovation.

The PWD has started sending notices to the allottees of government accommodation in Sector I-9/4 about the payment of electric meter bills for water motors installed at residential blocks. The Finance Division has allocated funds for payment of utilities in the relevant heads of accounts of the users.

Utility bills of the residential accommodation, including hostels, rest houses, and judicial residences should be paid by the users.
