Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr. Farsin Agabkian Shaheen met with the Dutch Ambassador to Palestine, Michel Rentnar, to discuss the evolving situation in Palestine and explore avenues for deeper cooperation between the two sides. The discussions focused on ongoing developments in the region, the importance of international recognition for the Palestinian state, and enhancing bilateral relations.
Minister Shaheen emphasized the need for European countries to formally recognize Palestine, highlighting that such recognition is in line with international law. He called attention to the importance of supporting a two-state solution and ending both the occupation and the violence facing the Palestinian people. The minister also expressed appreciation for the Netherlands’ backing of development projects in Palestine, which help strengthen the resilience of local communities.
During the meeting, Minister Shaheen requested that the Netherlands review the Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Israel, referred to in the discussions as the “Occupying State.” He underlined the need for European nations to align their policies with international efforts to achieve peace and justice in the region.
Ambassador Rentnar reiterated the Netherlands’ continued support for the Palestinian people and affirmed his country’s commitment to ongoing cooperation with Palestine in political and development sectors. Both sides agreed to further enhance bilateral coordination and explore new initiatives that contribute to Palestinian development and stability.
