Pakistan Renews Call for Lasting Ceasefire and Two-State Solution at UN Palestine Conference
Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar delivering a forceful statement at a high-level international conference in New York focused on the implementation of the two-state solution. The conference, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, gathered global leaders to address both the immediate crisis in Gaza and the broader goal of establishing a viable Palestinian state.
In his remarks, Senator Dar praised the leadership of the conference co-chairs and acknowledged the significant efforts of the eight specialized working groups. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s active participation in the conference and its strong commitment to achieving meaningful and constructive outcomes.
Senator Dar issued a sharp condemnation of Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza, characterizing the territory as “a graveyard of international law and humanitarian principles.” Calling for urgent international intervention, he underscored the need for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire, highlighting the importance of allowing unrestricted humanitarian access, supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), and ensuring accountability for violations of international law.
Pressing for a viable peace process, Dar advocated for the full United Nations membership and universal recognition of the State of Palestine. He further emphasized that the conference must deliver actionable commitments, including reaffirming the central importance of the two-state solution, demanding Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, and supporting the territory’s reconstruction as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2735 and the OIC-Arab Plan. The minister also called for a rejection of policies leading to forced displacement, demographic engineering, settlement expansion, and annexation of Palestinian land.
Senator Dar welcomed France’s recent decision to officially recognise the State of Palestine and encouraged other nations to follow suit. He concluded by stating Pakistan’s preparedness to contribute technical assistance, capacity-building, and support for both the Arab-OIC Plan and any future international protection mechanisms aimed at safeguarding Palestinian rights and furthering the peace process.
