Experts at the Corporate Philanthropy Awards outlined steps to strengthen Philanthropy Pakistan through transparency, policy reform and multi-stakeholder action.

The Corporate Philanthropy Awards 2025 hosted a timely discussion on the Philanthropy Pakistan ecosystem, drawing on key findings and recommendations from the policy paper developed under the Enhancing Philanthropy Ecosystem in Pakistan project funded by WINGS and co-funded by the European Union. The session brought together corporate leaders, legal experts and public policy officials to explore opportunities and challenges shaping the country’s giving landscape.

Mr. Badaruddin F. Vellani, Vice Chairman of the PCP Board of Directors, opened the session with remarks that framed the need for transparency and stronger cooperation across sectors, while Ms. Mehnaz Akbar Aziz, former MNA and Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Justice, moderated an engaged dialogue that kept practical reform and implementation at the centre of discussion. Their leadership helped ensure the conversation connected policy recommendations to on-the-ground realities.

Contributions from distinguished panelists enriched the debate with diverse professional perspectives. Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi of the Research Society of International Law offered legal insight into regulatory pathways, Mr. Asif Rasool from the Federal Board of Revenue discussed tax policy considerations affecting charitable giving, Dr. Faisal Sultan of Shaukat Khanum highlighted operational challenges in healthcare philanthropy, and Mr. Zia Akhter Abbas of The Citizens Foundation addressed scaling impact in education.

Participants used the policy paper as a roadmap to identify actionable measures for strengthening Philanthropy Pakistan, emphasising greater transparency, clearer regulatory frameworks, targeted tax incentives and capacity building for nonprofit governance. The multi-stakeholder exchange prioritised solutions that can enable more effective corporate giving and improved nonprofit operations across provinces.

By translating recommendations into practical steps and encouraging sustained collaboration among corporations, regulators and civil society, the panel advanced a solutions-focused, action-oriented agenda for the future of Philanthropy Pakistan. Stakeholders left with a clearer set of priorities to create a more enabling and impactful environment for philanthropic giving nationwide.
