The Pakistan-Palestine Parliamentary Friendship Group convened its inaugural briefing in Islamabad on October 7, 2025, under the convenership of Mr. Ammar Ahmad Khan Leghari, MNA. The session was attended by MNAs Ahmad Atteeq Anwer, Khurram Munawar Manj, Romina Khurshid Alam and Saba Sadiq, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Pakistani Ambassador to Jordan participated virtually. The Parliamentary Friendship Group used the meeting to set its initial priorities for legislative and diplomatic engagement.
Discussion focused on the current status of Pakistan-Palestine bilateral relations, practical pathways for parliamentary cooperation, Pakistan’s stance on Palestine-related matters at the International Court of Justice and approaches to media engagement and public diplomacy. Ministry of Foreign Affairs briefers outlined coordination measures for lawmakers and diplomatic channels to amplify parliamentary initiatives.
Members offered prayers for the people of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed their commitment to raise their voices more strongly against the violence they described as being perpetrated by the Israeli and Indian governments. A representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also shared positive news with Senator Mushtaq regarding recent developments involving the Israeli government.
The Parliamentary Friendship Group signalled its intent to pursue sustained parliamentary cooperation and enhanced public diplomacy to keep Pakistan’s support for Palestine prominent in national and international discussions.
