A delegation from Pasban Watan Pakistan visited the National Press Club in Islamabad to express solidarity with journalists after a recent protest outside the club, during which police mistreated reporters and entered the Press Club premises leading to physical confrontations.
The Pasban Watan delegation was led by Mukhtar Ahmad Awan and included Syed Nabi Shah Tarmizi as General Secretary, Rukhsanda Tasneem as Secretary Information, Tahir Mahmood as President of the Public Aid Committee, Rana Ishtiaq as Vice President, Syed Bakhti Shah as Youth President and central leader Ejaz Ahmed.
Speaking with journalists, Mukhtar Ahmad Awan said that Pasban Watan fully supports freedom of expression. He described the incident at the Press Club as “highly condemnable” and stressed that journalists must not be subjected to violence under any circumstances.
