A delegation from the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) recently visited the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) in Islamabad to explore joint initiatives on climate research, maritime policy, and youth engagement, reinforcing efforts toward a sustainable and climate-resilient maritime future.
The PCF youth delegation was received by NIMA officials and took part in an in-depth session focused on the potential of Pakistan’s Blue Economy. The participants engaged in an interactive question-and-answer segment with Vice Admiral (Retd) Ahmed Saeed HI(M), President of NIMA, discussing opportunities and challenges in developing the country’s maritime resources while prioritizing environmental sustainability.
During the discussions, young climate leaders from PCF expressed a strong commitment to maritime sustainability and showcased the growing interest of Pakistani youth in advancing climate-resilient blue development strategies. Their active participation highlighted the importance of involving young voices in national dialogue around ocean policy and climate adaptation.
The visit concluded with a group photograph and remarks of appreciation from the NIMA President, who acknowledged the collaborative spirit of the engagement. Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to inclusive, science-based, and youth-led climate action within Pakistan’s maritime sector.
