UNICEF Punjab and the Planning & Development Board pledge deeper WASH collaboration to build healthier, sustainable communities across Punjab.

The Planning and Development Board of the Government of Punjab met with UNICEF Pakistan to deepen cooperation on provincial development priorities. Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman of the P&D Board, warmly welcomed the new UNICEF Representative to Pakistan, Ms. Pernille Ironside, and highlighted the importance of strengthened ties between provincial authorities and UNICEF Punjab.

Discussion focused on bolstering collaboration in the WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) sector to support healthier and more sustainable communities across Punjab. Both sides stressed the need for coordinated planning and targeted interventions to improve water and sanitation services for vulnerable populations.

Chairman P&D Board Dr. Naeem Rauf reaffirmed: “Partnerships with global development partners like UNICEF are vital to achieving our shared goals for inclusive and sustainable development.” The statement underlined a continued commitment to joint programming with UNICEF Punjab to translate policy into measurable impact.

The meeting also reflected updates from the Government of Punjab, with input attributed to Chief Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, signaling provincial leadership engagement in the collaboration. Officials agreed to maintain regular dialogue to advance WASH priorities and ensure effective implementation on the ground.

By prioritising the WASH agenda with UNICEF Punjab, the provincial administration aims to strengthen public health outcomes and support long-term development goals across urban and rural communities in Punjab.
