Her visit highlighted PEC’s strong commitment to enhancing engineering standards in Pakistan and aligning its practices with international benchmarks.

Upon her arrival, Dr. Khan was warmly welcomed by PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir and senior management officials, who provided a comprehensive briefing about PEC’s core initiatives aimed at raising professional engineering standards nationwide. During this briefing, Chairman Nazir outlined PEC’s recent strategic developments, including the successful renewal of PEC’s membership in the International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) for another six-year period.

Chairman Nazir further detailed significant achievements including PEC’s ambitious Digital Drive initiative, comprehensive curriculum revision programs, and the establishment of the Young Engineers National Forum aimed at empowering young professionals. He also highlighted the newly introduced Generative AI Training Plan, which is set to benefit approximately 45,000 engineers across the country by providing cutting-edge training and professional development.

Additional initiatives emphasized during the meeting included the establishment of university facilitation desks, continuous professional development (CPD) programs for engineers, and a “brain gain” portal for Pakistani engineers working overseas, aimed at harnessing their expertise for Pakistan’s development. PEC’s expanding international collaborations, particularly with China, were highlighted as part of the council’s vision to enhance Pakistan’s global engineering presence.

Expressing her admiration for PEC’s leadership and dynamic reform agenda, Dr. Khan assured the Ministry of Science and Technology’s complete support to facilitate and strengthen these initiatives further. She appreciated PEC’s visionary approach in promoting engineering excellence and international standard alignment, recognizing these efforts as key contributors to Pakistan’s technological advancement and economic growth.

Concluding her visit, Dr. Khan toured PEC’s Executive Chamber dedicated to Senior Engineers, where she once again commended the council’s progressive steps toward professional engineering facilitation.
