Multan have secured a spot in the final of the Pepsi National PD T20 Cricket Championship after a commanding seven-wicket win over Lahore, marking their third consecutive victory in the tournament. They will now face the winner of the second phase of the competition.
The championship, hosted by the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA), featured two key matches at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy Ground in Karachi. In the first match, Lahore set a target of 123 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, thanks to contributions from Shahid Wattoo with 33 runs, Ateeq Jutt with 31, and Muhammad Anees with 18. Multan’s bowling attack was led by Jehanzaib Tiwana, who took two wickets for 29 runs, while Asif Khicchi and Muhammad Asif claimed one wicket each.
In response, Multan successfully chased down the target, scoring 124 runs for the loss of three wickets in 17.2 overs. Muhammad Zaman Ali was the standout performer, hitting an aggressive 60 that included six boundaries and two sixes, while Matloob Qureshi added 31 and Jehanzaib Tiwana contributed 17. Lahore’s Muhammad Bilal took two wickets, with Muhammad Arsalan picking up one. Muhammad Zaman was named Player of the Match and received his award from RLCA Zone 2 President Muhammad Jamil.
The day’s second match saw Karachi posting a total of 138 for nine wickets in their 20 overs. Arifeen Arshad led the charge with a solid 54 off 40 balls, featuring two fours and four sixes. Nooruddin Sheikh scored 22 and Kamran Khan added 14. Quetta’s Mithal Khan took three wickets for 22 runs, while Ali Gachizai took two and Nazimuddin, Muhammad Irfan, and Nusratullah claimed one each.
Chasing the target, Quetta managed 129 for seven wickets. Saifullah fought hard with 54 runs off 43 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes. Nusratullah and Amir Habib contributed 23 and 22 runs respectively. Karachi’s Kamran Khan and Ishaq Junior took two wickets each, with Malik Sher and Ali Askar picking up one apiece. Arifeen Arshad was named Player of the Match for his performance, receiving the award from former first-class cricketer Zafar Ahmed.
Several notable figures attended the matches, including PPDCA President Imran Balwani, Secretary General and Event Director Amiruddin Ansari, Head Coach Sabih Azhar, Quetta Region Head Aslam Badich, Lahore–Sialkot Region Head Javed Ashraf, and PPDCA founder and director Muhammad Nizam.
The matches were officiated by Waseemuddin and Muhammad Rehan, with Shakeel Sajjad serving as match referee. The second phase of the championship will be held in Islamabad.
