On September 20, 2025 Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik visited Jalalpur Pirwala to inspect a 36-inch diameter gas pipeline that was damaged in recent floods. He was accompanied by Federal Secretary for Petroleum Momin Agha, the Managing Director of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and other senior officials during the on-site review.
The minister stressed that public safety and convenience remain the government’s top priorities and said all relevant departments are on high alert. As a precautionary measure the affected section of the gas pipeline was isolated in a timely manner to avert any potential loss of life or property. Authorities have ensured uninterrupted supply through an alternative pipeline while repair and monitoring efforts continue.
Mr Malik instructed SNGPL management to maintain continuous surveillance of the transmission network so any emerging threat from flood waters can be addressed immediately. Commissioner Multan Aamir Karim Khan briefed the minister on ongoing flood relief and rescue operations in Jalalpur Pirwala and said restoration work on the damaged motorway is being carried out round the clock with heavy machinery to restore ground connectivity as soon as possible.
