The Pakistan Housing Authority Rawalpindi has inaugurated a new paddle tennis court built beneath the Sixth Road flyover, a project delivered to promote sports and healthy activities in the city. The opening ceremony was attended by guest of honour Tahira Aurangzeb, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema and Director General PHA Ahmed Hassan Ranjha.
Completed in a short timeframe under the directions of the DG, the paddle tennis court features a state-of-the-art turf design and modern lighting to allow evening play. The facility also includes dedicated car parking to ensure easy access for local residents and visitors.
PHA Rawalpindi said the new paddle tennis court is part of a wider effort to beautify the city while expanding recreational options for young people. Alongside ongoing cricket tournaments and other sports initiatives, the authority intends to provide more venues that encourage fitness and community engagement.
Local residents and city dignitaries praised the initiative as a positive and timely addition to neighbourhood amenities. Many attendees highlighted that the court will offer a healthy outlet for youth and contribute to making public spaces more active and welcoming.
Officials indicated that the project reflects PHA Rawalpindi’s continuing commitment to sports infrastructure and urban improvements, with further plans to roll out similar facilities that support grassroots participation and promote a greener, more active city.
