The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi has launched special measures to safeguard plants and flowers in city parks and green belts from heavy rainfall, alongside strengthening cleanliness routines and improving rainwater harvesting systems.

Following an alert by the Meteorological Department regarding expected heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi, PHA Rawalpindi has acted swiftly to ensure the protection of greenery and maintain cleanliness in public spaces. Director General PHA Rawalpindi, Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, has specifically instructed workers and horticulture teams to take proactive steps to keep plants and flowers unharmed and parks clean and safe.

In response to the anticipated rains, horticulture staff are focusing their efforts on regular cleaning, draining standing water promptly, and nurturing the plants and flowers in parks and green spaces. These targeted activities are designed to maintain freshness, prevent damage, and preserve the aesthetic beauty cultivated across the city.

PHA Rawalpindi is also actively paying attention to improving the process of rain harvesting. Efforts have been intensified to ensure that rainwater accumulation is effectively managed, thereby contributing positively to local water conservation and enhancing the environmental impact during the rainy season.

Emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and cleanliness, DG Ahmed Hassan Ranjha reiterated the advantages of greenery in combating climate challenges. Ranjha called upon residents of Rawalpindi to join hands with PHA in tree plantation campaigns, stressing that cultivating trees and plants is a collective national responsibility. He highlighted that community involvement plays a pivotal role in achieving a greener and more sustainable environment.

According to Ranjha, the Punjab government’s vision of promoting urban tree plantation is being implemented rigorously in Rawalpindi city, aiming ultimately to mitigate climate change impacts and ensure a cleaner, greener atmosphere for residents.
