The minister stressed the need for transparent, merit-based policies aligned with modern requirements and directed that the Pharmacy Council be made a more active and effective institution.
During the briefing, officials reviewed the council’s ongoing operations and identified gaps in the registration system, the accreditation of pharmacy programs, and continuing professional development for pharmacists. The discussion focused on measures to improve administrative efficiency, ensure the integrity of licensing procedures, and raise educational and training standards across the profession.
Syed Mustafa Kamal emphasized transparency and merit as guiding principles for any changes, calling for policies that reflect contemporary healthcare needs and international best practices. He urged that reforms prioritize fairness in registration and recruitment, strengthen oversight, and modernize curricula and training to better prepare pharmacists for evolving roles in patient care.
