The Steering Committee for the Honhaar Scholarship Program met under the chairmanship of Minister for Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat to review upcoming phases and operational improvements. In attendance were Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI), chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, Mr Ghulam Farid, Secretary Higher Education Department, and Mr Tajammal Abbas Rana, Special Secretary HED, along with officers from the Punjab Higher Education Commission and the Higher Education Department.
Committee members conducted a detailed assessment of the new phases of the Honhaar Scholarship, examined proposed merit mechanisms and evaluated progress on system automation. Discussions focused on ensuring that the Honhaar Scholarship operates with clear merit criteria and efficient digital processes to reduce delays and increase access for eligible students across Punjab.
Participants reiterated their commitment to a transparent, modern scholarship system and agreed to continue close collaboration between the Punjab Higher Education Commission and the Higher Education Department to implement automation measures and refine merit frameworks. Strengthening the Honhaar Scholarship remains a priority to support students pursuing higher education in the province.
