The inaugural direct service between Islamabad and Manchester began operations from Islamabad International Airport on October 25, 2025, as Pakistan International Airlines launched the Islamabad Manchester flight connecting the two cities for the first time in recent years.
Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif formally inaugurated the new route at the ceremony attended by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, Secretary Defence General (R) Muhammad Ali, Director General Civil Aviation Authority Nadir Shafi Dar, and senior officials from the Defence and Aviation sectors.
Speaking at the event, the minister said the Islamabad Manchester flight is part of the government’s wider push to revive national institutions, improve public services and enhance Pakistan’s international image. He described the route as the start of a new era of connectivity that will provide significant convenience to the Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom.
The minister also commended the professionalism and coordination of the CAA, the Aviation Division and PIA management for delivering the service. The new Islamabad Manchester flight is expected to strengthen bilateral ties and give a welcome boost to trade, tourism and cultural exchange between Pakistan and the UK.
