Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), to review ongoing relief efforts for victims of recent rains and floods across the country. During the meeting, the Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on the nationwide emergency response and preparations for potential future disasters.
The NDMA Chairman updated the Prime Minister on the progress of strengthening the early warning system in Gilgit-Baltistan, highlighting close collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change to enhance disaster preparedness in the region. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a fully operational advance warning mechanism and directed officials to ensure strong cooperation between the NDMA and provincial governments for efficient relief and rehabilitation operations.
Shehbaz Sharif also instructed authorities to ensure timely alerts for communities living in vulnerable areas, so that residents receive adequate warnings and can take necessary precautions ahead of any potential emergencies.
