Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Ikramullah Kakar, a student from a remote, flood-affected area of Balochistan, who has excelled in his studies after receiving government support. During the meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister expressed his pride in Ikramullah’s determination and achievements, noting the student’s recent third place ranking in the Rawalpindi Board matriculation examinations.

The prime minister recalled his first encounter with Ikramullah in 2022 during a visit to Qila Saifullah, where he met the student in a relief camp after devastating floods struck the area. At that meeting, Ikramullah had shared his desire for higher education, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promised to cover his educational expenses. Keeping his word, the prime minister arranged for Ikramullah to study at Lawrence College, one of the country’s top educational institutions, on a scholarship.

During their meeting, Ikramullah thanked the prime minister, highlighting that the support he received went beyond politics. He noted that such encouragement provided him, a child from an underprivileged region, the opportunity to study and succeed at a prestigious institution. Ikramullah also mentioned his decision to work hard and secure a double scholarship, fulfilling his promise to the prime minister to excel in his studies.

Shehbaz Sharif praised Ikramullah’s dedication and credited his success to the combined efforts of his teachers, parents, and the student’s own hard work. The prime minister emphasized that providing opportunities to talented students from marginalized areas is crucial and expressed gratitude for being able to help facilitate Ikramullah’s journey. He presented Ikramullah with a special gift, wishing him well for his studies and future career.

The student shared his future ambitions, stating that he intends to pursue the competitive civil service exam (CSS) and seek further scholarships to study abroad, with hopes of one day attending Oxford University. He expressed his desire to serve the country and follow the prime minister’s example of dedication to national progress.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, as well as Ikramullah’s parents and teachers. Ikramullah’s story has been highlighted as an example of how government support can transform the lives of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to achieve academic and personal success.
