PMDC Portal Errors Cause Widespread Disruption, Students Demand Immediate Fix

Islamabad: The National Registration and Examination (NRE) portal of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has continued to face serious technical malfunctions, disrupting essential registration and examination services for medical students and professionals. Since its launch, the portal has struggled to function reliably, leaving thousands of students unable to complete mandatory steps required for their academic and professional progression.

Users attempting to access key features of the platform, including registration and exam-related services, have repeatedly encountered system failures. These persistent issues have caused delays, uncertainty, and significant inconvenience for candidates. Despite the ongoing technical problems, students are still required to pay the PKR 20,000 examination fee, adding to their frustration as many remain unable to fully utilize the portal.WhatsApp Image 2025 11 18 at 9.03.32 PM

Dr. Rafey Sher, the elected representative of foreign medical graduates, strongly criticized the prolonged malfunctioning of the PMDC portal and the lack of timely assistance from the PMDC IT department. Representing thousands of foreign medical graduates, Dr. Sher expressed deep concern over the continued technical problems and the IT wing’s lack of responsiveness to student complaints.

Dr. Rafey Sher stated that the situation is unacceptable, noting that students are paying substantial exam fees while being denied basic access to essential services. He emphasized that unresolved technical issues and inadequate IT support are causing unnecessary stress and obstacles for candidates, describing the matter as both a technical and administrative failure.

He urged PMDC to take immediate steps to restore the portal’s functionality, improve the responsiveness of the IT support team, and ensure transparency and accountability so that students receive the services they are paying for.

As the regulatory body for medical and dental education in Pakistan, PMDC is responsible for maintaining the integrity of its processes and the confidence of its stakeholders. The ongoing portal issues continue to damage this trust and are impeding the progress of students who rely on timely and efficient access to PMDC services.
