Polio Eradication Efforts Gain Momentum in Sindh

The Federal Health Minister, Mr. Mustafa Kamal, alongside Mr. Iqbal Mehsud and Mr. Rana Shoukat (Member of Provincial Assembly PS-97), met with key community stakeholders in Gujro to promote the importance of polio vaccination. This collaborative effort, facilitated by Dr. Azeem from UNICEF, also included the involvement of the Afghan Consulate General and senior communication specialists such as Madam Alison Clement.

During the meeting, political, tribal, and religious leaders, as well as local families who had previously refused polio immunization, participated in candid discussions. The primary aim was to address misconceptions about the polio vaccine, encourage immunization, and highlight the critical role that local influencers play in community health.

Key strategies were outlined to mobilize collective support for the Polio Eradication Initiative in Sindh, with a focus on ensuring that every child receives protection against polio. The leaders collectively stressed that widespread community engagement and clear, accurate communication are vital to achieving lasting success in eradicating the disease.
