A special ceremony was held to recognise the services of polio workers on World Polio Day, where shields and awards were presented in appreciation of their frontline efforts during vaccination drives. The event highlighted the continued commitment to immunization and support for teams working across the region.
Special Secretary Health Shaikh Baloch and Emergency Operations Center Coordinator Inaam ul Haq addressed the gathering, while political, religious and tribal leaders also spoke in praise of the polio workers and urged sustained community cooperation for eradication efforts.
Among those who attended were EPI Coordinator Dr Aftab Kakar, District Health Officer Dr Amil Mandokhail, PSTF member Maulana Anwar ul Haq Haqqani, Qari Abdul Rasheed, Dawood Khan Malik, Majeed Kakar, Malik Amin Shehwani, Dr Zafar Khosti, Team Lead N-Stop Dr Sami Tareen, UNICEF Lead Shapoor Sulaiman, BMGF focal person Dr Najeeb Marwat, and representatives from the World Health Organization.
Organisers said the recognition aims to boost morale of the polio workers and reinforce the importance of sustained immunization campaigns at the community level. Shields and awards were handed out to field staff to acknowledge their role in protecting children and advancing public health goals.
