Portuguese Ambassador to Undertake Strategic Visit to Sindh and Karachi for Political, Cultural, and Development Engagements
The Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan, Frederico Silva, is set to begin an official visit to Sindh and Karachi, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation across political dialogue, cultural exchange, community engagement, and development partnerships. The visit includes high-level meetings, participation in major cultural events, and field visits to assess ongoing development initiatives.
During his stay in Karachi, the Ambassador will hold meetings with key political, religious, social, and cultural figures, including the Chief Minister of Sindh, the Archbishop of Karachi, representatives of the Karachi Goan community, and various community leaders. His schedule also includes a visit to the Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum and tours of historic and cultural landmarks. He will attend the World Culture Festival at the Karachi Arts Council and the Adab Literary Festival, in addition to meeting with the business community to explore economic collaboration.
The Ambassador’s program further features a series of field visits organized by the Aga Khan Development Network in Karachi and District Thatta. These engagements are designed to allow direct interaction with local communities and to review development initiatives in areas such as education, health, and infrastructure. He will also visit institutions including AKES schools, Aga Khan University, and AKU-IED, where he will meet students, faculty, and leadership to observe ongoing academic and development programs.
The visit is seen as a significant step toward enhancing Portugal–Pakistan relations, promoting cultural understanding, advancing educational cooperation, and expanding future opportunities for economic and development partnerships.
