PPP holds Karsaz memorial in Rawalpindi to honor victims of the 2007 attack and demand a full investigation into the incident.

A solemn ceremony took place in Rawalpindi under the auspices of Basharat Jazbi, vice president of the Pakistan Peoples Party, to pay tribute to the victims of the Karsaz attack. The Karsaz memorial gathered party leaders, activists and citizens who came to honour those who lost their lives on 18 October 2007.

At the event, central PPP leader Raja Javed Ashraf reminded attendees that the attack on Benazir Bhutto upon her return was an assault on democracy itself. He said the sacrifices of the Karsaz martyrs will not be in vain and reiterated the party’s commitment to public service and the continuity of democratic processes.

Speakers described the Karsaz incident as a dark chapter in the nation’s history and called for a thorough and transparent investigation so that those responsible are held to account. The gathering included a large turnout of political and social figures alongside party workers, reflecting broad concern over unresolved questions surrounding the tragedy.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the departed and a formal salute to their sacrifices, as participants emphasised the need to keep the memory of the victims alive while pursuing justice and democratic resilience in Pakistan.
