During a virtual exchange hosted at the request of IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Director Mr. Alexander Matheou, Mrs. Farzhana Naek, Chairperson of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, briefed His Highness Prince Abdalla Bin Faisal Al Saud of the Saudi Red Crescent on Pakistan’s current humanitarian situation with a special focus on health. The meeting coincided with the Prince’s visit to the IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) in Malaysia from 28–30 October 2025 and highlighted urgent needs in affected communities and the central role of health services in response efforts.
Mrs. Naek outlined PRCS’s ongoing programmes in emergency health interventions, disaster response and resilience building, and emphasised the need for stronger coordination within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. She noted that bolstering community preparedness and ensuring rapid access to medical support are critical to protecting vulnerable groups, and that international partnership strengthens Pakistan health capacity during crises.
The discussion reaffirmed a commitment to solidarity and joint action, focusing on reinforcing health systems, enhancing rapid response mechanisms and building local resilience. PRCS reiterated its determination to work with Movement partners to uphold shared values of humanity and compassion and to deliver timely, effective humanitarian action where Pakistan health needs are greatest.
