PRCS Strengthens Climate Action Efforts in Pakistan

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) is enhancing its efforts to tackle climate change by strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders. In a recent meeting in Islamabad, PRCS Chairperson Farzhana Naek and Senator Sherry Rehman, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change, discussed joint initiatives to address climate challenges facing the country.

The meeting was attended by representatives from both PRCS and the German Red Cross, including Asif Aman, Head of Office for the German Red Cross in Pakistan, and Sajjad Ali Kandhar, who leads PRCS’s Climate Change Department. Senior officials from PRCS were also present, reflecting the importance of international and national partnerships in climate response.

Senator Sherry Rehman highlighted Pakistan’s position as one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries, emphasizing the urgent need to expand the role of first responders and adopt anticipatory actions on the ground. She expressed her strong support for PRCS’s climate change initiatives under Chairperson Farzhana Naek’s leadership and pledged to help strengthen these efforts across the country.
