The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, in partnership with the Norwegian Red Cross, convened a detailed progress review for the ECHO project in Bajaur aimed at supporting the district’s most vulnerable communities with lifesaving health services, WASH interventions and cash assistance for families affected by conflict, displacement and flooding.

Management and senior representatives took part in the meeting, with Mr. Muhammad Abaid Ullah Khan, Secretary General PRCS, Mr. Saeed Kamal, Secretary PRCS Merged Areas, and Ms. Radhika Fernando, Operations Manager Asia for the Norwegian Red Cross Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur, among attendees. Officers from the PRCS National Headquarters, the PRCS Merged Areas branch and the Norwegian Red Cross office in Pakistan also joined discussions on the ECHO project.

Participants reviewed progress on delivering health services at community level, expansion of WASH support and disbursement of cash assistance to displaced and flood-affected households, while identifying operational challenges that have affected timelines and reach. The session examined logistical constraints, access issues in remote localities and the need to adapt activities to shifting needs on the ground.

Moving forward, PRCS stressed a coordinated approach with implementing teams and partners to accelerate service delivery and enhance resilience of communities in Bajaur. The meeting reaffirmed collaboration with EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, the European Union in Pakistan and Røde Kors to ensure the ECHO project achieves its objectives and sustains assistance where it is most needed.
