Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s Sindh branch hosted an introductory orientation session to prepare a new cohort of health volunteers who will support emergency medical response and community health efforts across the province.
The session was attended by the Provincial Secretary, the Honorary Treasurer and a member of the Health Committee, underlining the organisation’s commitment to strengthening local health capacity. Trainers from PRCS led interactive modules designed to equip volunteers with practical skills and coordination techniques.
Participants engaged in sessions run by the Disaster Management, Health, Youth and Volunteer, and Climate teams, ensuring a broad understanding of how health volunteers fit into wider emergency and community resilience work. Emphasis was placed on rapid response coordination, basic community health interventions and linking volunteers with local health services.
Team-building exercises reinforced collaboration and the humanitarian spirit essential to volunteer service, while orientation activities focused on clarifying roles and expectations for volunteers when responding to crises or supporting public health initiatives in Sindh. The effort aims to build a trained network of health volunteers ready to assist communities across the province.
