President Alvi slams CDA’s Discriminatory Act Against Female Employee

President Arif Alvi

President Dr Arif Alvi has criticized the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for not allotting a residential quarter to a female employee on the grounds that quarters were only for adult-male-working dhobis (washermen), based on past practice.

The CDA had ignored Wafaqi Mohtasib’s orders to allot the quarter to the female employee, which the president deemed discriminatory and misogynistic.

He directed the CDA to improve its rules and submit a report to Wafaqi Mohtasib in 60 days. He also urged the CDA to comply with the orders and redress the complainant’s grievance, seeking approval from the competent authority/forum if required, without any further delay.

The president emphasized that this practice went against the principles of Pakistan’s founders, fair practices of Islam, and the Constitution.
