Rawalpindi authorities have intensified their crackdown on retailers violating official price lists, following directives from the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema. In compliance with instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the measures aim to ensure relief for the general public by curbing overcharging in local markets.

Assistant Commissioners carried out inspections at various marts and shops across Rawalpindi, focusing on the enforcement of government-fixed price lists. During these visits, several retailers found guilty of charging above the prescribed rates were penalized on the spot.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against any shopkeepers who flout official pricing regulations. He reiterated that, as per the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, providing relief to citizens remains the administration’s top priority, and the campaign against profiteering will continue without exception.
