Prof Muhammad Arshad Cheema, former Professor of Surgery at King Edward Medical University and founding president of the Surgical Oncology Society of Pakistan, visited the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning stall during the 18th Cancer Conference at PGMI Peshawar under the theme Excellence in Cancer Care through Collaboration, accompanied by his Lahore-based team.
During the visit Prof Cheema commended PILLโs Moving on ABC (NIHR 205561) initiative and received a comprehensive briefing from the PILL team on the programme. The presentation detailed how Moving on ABC operates and the support it aims to provide to patients and families affected by cancer.
The PILL representatives also highlighted the organisationโs wider contributions to cancer awareness, prevention and psychosocial interventions being implemented under the Defeat Cancer Initiative. The engagement underscored the importance of collaboration between surgical oncology and psychosocial services in strengthening cancer care in Pakistan and reaffirmed the local relevance of the Moving on ABC programme.
