Prosecutor training in Karachi strengthens handling and prosecution of violence against women, boosting accountability and access to justice in Sindh.

Master Trainers from the Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), in partnership with CPDI, led an interactive prosecutor training at the Karachi High Court focused on violence against women. The session brought together public prosecutors to discuss investigative strategies, evidence management and victim‑centred approaches that improve case readiness for trial.

The initiative aims to enhance the capacity of prosecutors to effectively address and prosecute cases of violence against women, strengthening both conviction prospects and survivor confidence in the justice system. Prosecutor training delivered practical guidance on relevant legal frameworks, courtroom practice and coordination with investigative agencies.

At the conclusion of the programme, Muntazir Mehdi, Prosecutor General of Sindh, joined Altaf Khoso, CEO of Pakistan Legal United Society, and Ms Samreen Siyal, Deputy Director, in distributing certificates to participating public prosecutors. Organisers said the certificates recognise the commitment of prosecutors to apply victim‑sensitive practices in their work.

Officials emphasized that ongoing prosecutor training and stronger interagency cooperation are essential to build a culture of accountability across Sindh, ensuring perpetrators are held responsible and survivors receive timely justice. The training at Karachi High Court underscores local efforts to make the criminal justice response to violence against women more effective and accessible.
