PSPA vice chair Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo attends DataFest 2025, highlights Punjab Socio-Economic Registry and champions data-driven social protection.

Jahan Ara Manzoor Wattoo, Vice Chairperson of the Punjab Social Protection Authority, attended DataFest 2025 at the Pak China Friendship Centre in Islamabad, an event organised by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics that brought together representatives from federal and provincial departments, private organisations, academic institutions and international bodies.

Muhammad Sarwar Gondal, Member (Support Services / Resource Management) at the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, extended a warm welcome and escorted the vice chairperson on a detailed tour of the various DataFest stalls, briefing her on data-driven initiatives showcased at the event.

At the Punjab Social Protection Authority stall, the vice chairperson commended the team’s efforts and underlined the significance of the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry as a modern, comprehensive digital system. She noted that the registry provides a crucial foundation for evidence-based policymaking, the effective implementation of social protection programmes and the fair allocation of resources across the province.

Wattoo praised steps to promote the use of digital technology and data in social policy and said platforms like DataFest 2025 play a vital role in fostering coordination among institutions and advancing evidence-based policymaking in Pakistan.
