PTA has reminded telecom consumers that all SIMs must be registered in the user’s own name, reaffirming the requirement as of 25 December 2025. The authority underlined that SIM Registration in the correct name is mandatory and essential for adherence to existing regulations.
The use of a SIM registered in another person’s name is considered a breach of the applicable rules, and any misuse or unlawful activity conducted through such a SIM will be the sole responsibility of the registered user. The PTA stressed that ownership and registration details determine accountability for all actions on a connection.
Consumers are required to ensure responsible use of their SIMs and telecommunications connections. Every user will be individually accountable for all calls, messages and data usage made through their SIM or device. Compliance with SIM Registration and other regulatory requirements is necessary to avoid any enforcement action in case of violations.
The authority also urged subscribers to adopt responsible behaviour and to play an active role in safeguarding the security, stability and reliability of Pakistan’s telecommunications network. By maintaining correct registration and following rules, users contribute directly to a safer and more trustworthy telecom environment.
